  8. This file is provided to owners and users of the Rio PMP600 for 
  9. the express purpose of upgrading the Rio firmware to 
  10. Version 1.16
  11.  
  12. NOTE:  This self extracting file contains the firmware file required for the firmware
  13. upgrade and this read me file that you are reading.  Please read below for information 
  14. on the additional files that you will need to complete the firmware upgrade.

  16. NOTE 2:  The firmware update is encoded Macintosh BinHqx format. If 
  17. it is not automatically decoded by your web browser, you can use Stuffit 
  18. Expander ( http://www.aladdinsys.com ) or similar utility to decode it. Double 
  19. click on the resulting file, rio600_firmware-mac_116.sit to decompress the 
  20. firmware file.

  30. Files:
  31.      Rio116.lok - This is the actual firmware file that will be 
  32.      transferred to the Rio600.
  33.  
  34.      Rio600_firmware-mac_116.txt - This is the file you are currently reading.

  43. 2. Instructions
  44.  
  45. Note:  This upgrade may erase the audio contents of the 
  46.             Rio600.
  47.  
  48. 2.1)  Turn on the Rio600. Make sure it has a fresh battery.
  49. 2.2)  Attach the USB cable to the Rio and to the Macintosh.
  50. 2.3)  Open RioPort SoundJam MP 2.1.1
  51. 2.4)  SoundJam will detect the Rio 600, and open the Rio memory 
  52.         window. 
  53. 2.5)  Click the "Settings" button. 
  54. 2.6)  Click "Upgrade Firmware..."
  55. 2.7)  Use the standard directory dialog box to navigate to the
  56.         location of the Rio 1.16 firmware file. The file name is 
  57.         "Rio116.lok".
  58. 2.8)  SoundJam will update the Rio's firmware. The Rio600 will display 
  59.         the firmware upgrade status during this time. This takes about 30 seconds. 
  60. NOTE:  Do not close SoundJam or remove the USB cable while the 
  61.               upgrade is in progress.
  62. 2.10)  After it is complete, SoundJam will reboot the Rio600.
  63. 2.11)  When the Rio is turned on, it will display the Rio600 logo, then a screen that shows the current memory usage and the firmware version. The version should be v1.16.
